Only 3 more sleeps until Halloween!! Get ready to see goblins and ghouls everywhere you go! Well, actually, not so much. The most popular costumes don’t usually tend to be your classic ghost or vampire anymore. Most people are inspired by pop culture when thinking of what to dress up as for Halloween and this year is no exception.
According to Google, the most popular Halloween costume this year is Harley Quinn (seen below). How did they figure that out? Well, it’s this project called Frightgeist which uses data from Google searches to map out which costumes are most popular different cities as well as nationally. The bad news is that Frightgeist is only for the U.S. but I’m sure the trends are pretty similar to what we will see here in Canada this year.
So, Harley Quinn and Star Wars top the list, with Princess Leia ranking as the most popular Star Wars character to show up in Google’s costume searches.
The least popular? Jessica Rabbit. Sorry, Jess!
