The Canadian Cancer Society and the Sunnybrook Foundation announced this week that The Tragically Hip’s recent tour raised more than $1-million for brain cancer research in Canada!
Downie revealed earlier this year that he has been battling terminal brain cancer but the singer still decided to go on tour with his band The Tragically Hip. The bands 15-show tour wrapped up in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario, back in August.
“At Sunnybrook and at cancer centres across the globe, we are making important advances in brain tumour treatment, and support like this helps us continue our work,” Dr. James Perry, head of neurology at Sunnybrook, said Monday in a release.
“To all those who have donated to brain cancer research, thank you.”
