Demi Lovato shared some pretty big news with her fans on Twitter yesterday (Oct 4), that in 2017 she’s taking a break from the spotlight.
So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media 👋🏼— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) October 4, 2016
Obviously, her fans were curious about her decision.
Lovato explained that she doesn’t feel she is “meant for this business and the media.” She added that fame just, “doesn’t feel worth it anymore” and that she’d rather “do charity work.”
However, there is much speculation that her decision has something to do with the comments she made in her latest interview with Glamour magazine about Taylor Swift. Specifically in regards to what a “normal” woman’s body should look like.
“I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand. To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real…. It’s not realistic.”
Lovato is known for speaking her mind, especially when it comes to discussion surrounding body image. She is also known for being unapologetic.

Also don't forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) October 4, 2016
