This kid is adorable. There are many people that want their kids to wear shirts like “I look fabulous” or “cute” and there is nothing wrong with that. There are also parents that want their kids in clothes that say “think outside the box” or “Be adventurous”
I think the issue is that these phrases are usually put on gender specific clothes. Girls with fabulous, and cute while the boys get the shirts that suggest more than looks.
Daisy, who is 8 years old, breaks it down for us
Now of course this is the internet, and there have been many haters…yes towards this 8 year old girl.
She is not a “tomboy” because she wants to climb trees or play in the dirt. She is trying to say that these things should not be for Boys or Girls. It should be for kids…in general. Just like it is OK for boys to play with dolls or play dress up.
This is not a groundbreaking realization…there has always been “girl stuff and boy stuff” but hearing it from an 8 year old will hopefully make things a little more gender neutral.
