Finding that special person the PERFECT gift for Christmas can be more than a tad stressful.
Well, according to new researchers from Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania there’s an actual science to picking out the perfect present. Here’s the shortened version:
1. Focus on experience.
“Theatre or concert tickets, or something else a person enjoys can provide more enjoyment later on.”
2. Make sure it is useful.
‘What we found was that the giver wants to ‘wow’ the recipient and give a gift that can be enjoyed immediately, in the moment, while the recipient is more interested in a gift that provides value over time,’ explained Jeff Galak.
3. DO NOT surprise them with something not on their wish list… So, maybe buying that puppy was a bad idea…
Still have no idea what to get that certain someone? Turns out gift cards aren’t the layz options after all. A 2014 study revealed people tend to use them to buy themselves luxury items they wouldn’t normally indulge in.
