Who doesn’t love Star Wars‘ Princess Leia? She’s the no nonsense princess who commands a rebel base against an evil Empire and she’s better with a blaster than any Storm Trooper.
But even though Disney bought Lucasfilm back in 2012, she’s still not officially considered a “Disney princess” because she’s not an animated character. Below YouTube user SuperCarlinBrothers explains in more detail.
Well, it looks like thousands of Star Wars fans disagree with this outdated rule. There’s currently a Change.Org petition circulating online to get the iconic character into Disney‘s exclusive club. Here’s what it says on their website:
After the tragic lose of Carrie Fisher, we feel that it is only fitting for Disney to do away with the rule that an official Disney princess must be animated and make Leia a full-fledged princess. This would be a wonderful way to remember Carrie and a welcoming to one of Disney’s new properties that is beloved by millions.
What we are asking is that the Walt Disney Corporation hold a full ceremony inducting Leia as the newest Disney princess as well as a special service in memory of Carrie Fisher.

Just in case you we were wondering what her welcoming ceremony would look like…
