What you are about to read is extremely important if you love coffee.
According to a new study that will be published in Food Quality and Preference March 2017, the shape and size of your mug affects how your coffee tastes.
Metro is reporting that the study recruited 300 volunteers from China, Colombia and the UK. When testing coffees they took into consideration its “aroma, bitterness, intensity, temperature, caffeine level and sweetness.”
The results? Volunteers found that coffee tasted more intense if it was served in a short and narrow mug. They also reported that it was more bitter and aromatic.
The take away here is that if you love an intense flavour invest in short cups which are often used to serve espressos. If you want a less intense and less bitter cup o’ joe invest in a wider, taller, mug.
Cheers to sweet, glorious, caff- I mean coffee!
