Forget working out solo then. The trick to staying motivated is to become friends with people who enjoy exercising.
Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology say that exercise is contagious and if your friend runs an extra kilometre then you’ll be motivated to run an addition 300m.
Dr. Christos Nicolaides explains: ‘We found exercise is socially contagious, revealing a behavioural mechanism that could explain the correlations in obesity and happiness found in earlier work.”
