Crayola retired their “Dandelion Yellow” colour earlier this year after many many years of service in the crayon box, leaving one space for a brand new colour. That colour is now here and it is….blue, but not just ANY blue! It’s a pigment of blue that was accidentally discovered at the Oregon State University. Yes, apparently the lab blew up and all of a sudden a massive cloud of blue appeared…or something like that.
So now Crayola is asking you to name the new blue! You can submit your suggestions RIGHT HERE and on July 1st the top 5 names will be revealed, then it’s on to a voting period!
Seems like a lot of work for a crayon that at the end of the day everyone is still going to call…blue, but hey, let’s have some fun with it!
