Do you put up your Christmas decorations the day after Halloween?
Sure your friends might judge you for it but turns out you are onto something. Psychologists say it might make you happier to put up those twinkling light on your house and to set up that tree.
Unilad talked to experts about the effects of decorating for the holidays early who said doing can change your mood by “simply tapping into the excitement of the holidays before the rest of us.”
Then psychologist Deborah Serni told TODAY Home, “It does create that neurological shift that can produce happiness. I think anything that takes us out of our normal habituation, the normal day in, day out … signals our senses, and then our senses measure if it’s pleasing or not.”
“Christmas decorating will spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone,” she added. So deck the halls and hang that mistletoe to turn that SAD (seasonal affective disorder) upside down!
