Move over Tide Pods, there’s a new idiotic challenge on the rise! As if chewing on a packet of laundry soap isn’t dumb enough, how about the IKEA challenge?
The idea behind the IKEA Challenge is nothing new, but it seems to be more of a problem now than ever. Teens are challenging each other to spend an entire night inside the store without being detected.
Just last week an 11 year old boy was reported missing, until later found camping out inside the store. The idea took off in 2016 when teens posted a YouTube video of themselves locked inside of an IKEA.
A spokesperson for IKEA had this to say: “At IKEA, the safety and security of our customers is one of our highest priorities and we are constantly reviewing our security procedures to better prevent these incidents from happening.”
